Learning Goal: I’m working on a education & teaching writing question and need a sample draft to help me learn.

Teachers must use best practices to create effective, engaging learning activities that meet their students’ learning needs. Effective teachers engage in ongoing learning, stay current on community resources to share with those in need, provide appropriate leadership and guidance to students and others, and seek to advocate for the needs of their students and their students’ families.

Write a 1,000-1,500 word essay explaining the purposes of and best practices related to the professional roles of a teacher that extend beyond planning and delivering instruction.

Explain and provide specific examples of each of the following professional responsibilities in your essay:

• Upholding the expectations of the profession outlined in codes of ethics, professional standards of practice, and relevant laws and policies
• Working with colleagues and others to build ongoing connections with community resources to enhance student learning and well-being
• Advocating for the needs of students, a strong learning environment, and systemic improvements within education
• Engaging in ongoing learning opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in order to provide all students with engaging curriculum and learning experiences
