Early or Late Puberty for males and females

Learning Goal: I’m working on a humanities question and need guidance to help me learn.

Discussion

For this assignment you may choose to write on one of the following concepts:

    • Imaginary audience
    • Personal fable
    • Body image
    • Risks or benefits of either early or late puberty for males and females

Using information learned (and thus cited) from your text, identify and define your topic (BE SURE TO BOLD THE CONCEPT) and write a short 1.5-2 page paper (450 words at least) explaining and discussing the concept as it relates to adolescents now and in an earlier time/era of your choosing (i.e. 1980s). You can NOT simply talk about how “things are different from your childhood.” You must find sources to use and support your points. This means you will need to find sources beyond the text and lecture notes. I will allow secondary sources for this portion of the assignment, but they must be reputable! Use a well-respected newspaper or popular press (i.e. Psychology Today). Wikis of any sort, basic internet searches, popular magazines (Cosmo, etc.) are not acceptable. However, I will allow newspaper articles, provided they are not part of the opinion section. You must clearly identify the era of comparison (e.g. 1980s, 1950s, 1930s, etc).

While you do not need to format your paper in this manner, the following is a basic template:

    • Introduce, define, and describe the concept (and bold it) in the first paragraph.
    • Expand upon the description as it relates to current adolescent life. Provide specific examples!
    • Transition to discuss similarities and differences of adolescents regarding this concept in a different decade which you have identified and addressed.
    • You must cite and provide full references!
    • You must be specific and concrete (provide actual examples).
    • APA Citation
